Rare Set of (3) Different Large Cabinet Photos of the Famous 1853 CHESTER, MASSACHUSETTS Railroad Wreck
    DESCRIPTION:
Really nice set of 3 original, early large antique cabinet photos. Each photo shows a different scene, angle, and perspective. The wreck and original photos were taken in 1853. These appear to be original 1853 prints. Shows crash in detail, and it is not a pretty sight. Description says "On the B&A RR, across the Westfield River, 5 vestibule cars crush through the bridge and all go down, killing 14 and injuring nearly a hundred, Aug. 31, 1853."  Scans show several different scenes and perspectives, all in clear detail.
A great collection for collectors of antique railroad photographs & wrecks & disasters or cabinet photos. Nice sepia tone photographs mounted on light brown card stock. Photographer was Wheeler Jewelry & Photographer, Pittsfield, Mass. ONE OF THE WORST RAILROAD ACCIDENTS IN HISTORY!!
A great reference grouping, or simply for display or a collection. Each measures roughly 7" x 9" overall, with each actual photo 4 1/2" x 7 3/4". Quite suitable for framing or mounting with a collection if desired.
Not in too bad condition for the age. Photos are excellent, and the only damage is a couple of the corners of the mountings.  A VERY RARE GROUPING OF 3 DIFFERENT SCENES OF THIS VERY EARLY, VERY BAD 1853 TRAIN WRECK !!!
