These are BULK packs of our USB Cable PCIe Riser Clips/Locks for PCI-E riser card adapters (such as: PCIe 1x to 16x USB 3.0 Data Cables used for Bitcoin Mining). See our other listings for smaller packs (12, 24, 48, and 100) of the same item.
These are 3D printed clips, or locks, that securely fasten your USB cable PCIe riser boards to the motherboard's PCIe slot. These type of cable risers are often used when you need to operate your video card some distance away from the actual motherboard, such as in multiple GPU configurations like in cryptocurrency mining or machine learning setups. This listing is for the
clips only
and does not include any PCIe USB risers, the riser boards are only shown in the pictures to help demonstrate how these clips are installed and function.
The USB cable PCIe riser boards will often fit loose in the PCIe slots by themselves and this loose fit can sometimes lead to a slight separation of the mini board from the PCIe slot causing the attached GPUs to no longer work. This results in your miner or machine learning computer losing the function of one or more GPUs, and in extreme cases this condition could cause damage to your motherboard and/or GPU. These clips fit easily and snugly over the mini circuit board and secures to the underside ledge molded into the PCIe slot (see attached pictures for details). Please note that these clips fit the "top mount" style mini-boards, those with the USB connector on top, please refer to the pictures.
These are 3D printed parts made from PLA and flex enough to snap into place and provide a secure hold. They also unsnap easily, but you might need to use a small screwdriver to get in under the tab to release them. A 12 pack offers enough clips for a typical 8 - 10 GPU setup with a few extra clips to be used as spares. While they are strong, due to their small size they can sometimes break, so be sure to order a few extra. The clips are also available in larger quantities for larger discounts.
These clips are for motherboards with standard PCIe slot spacing. They will not fit on boards such as the ASRock H110 Pro BTC+ that use non-standard spacing by doubling up the number of PCIe slots by using the space normally reserved between the PCIe slots.
The clips are printed thin enough to fit around most motherboard components, such as small capacitors, but in some cases a little sanding of the clip may be required in instances where the motherboard components are mounted extremely close to the PCIe slot.
The clips are designed where they can be snapped into place on the PCIe mini-adapter PCB while the USB extension cable is plugged in, but they can be installed a little bit easier with the USB cable off as shown in the pictures.
As far as I know they fit most of the "top mount" PCIe USB Riser adapter "mini PCB's" that fit into the PCIe slot, but if you have non-standard risers you may want to measure the small adapter PCB first. My adapters all measure roughly 21.55 mm from the top of the actual PCB (not the USB connector) to the bottom (see pictures for details).
Note: Due to the nature of 3D printing, minor flaws and imperfections can be expected. Since these are printed in small batches and not mass produced please allow for slight variations. All pieces are inspected as they come off of the printer for fit and function. The patterns in the plastic are due to the nature of 3D printing, which involves plastic being deposited in multiple layers. As such extrusion patterns are normal for 3D printed products and are to be expected (see pictures for details).
