Description
Mustang Steering Column Bearing Retainerslides into the bottom end of the steering column. You do not have to use anything to retain the assembly if your steering shaft has a c-clip at the top to keep the shaft from sliding downward. The assembly is a tight fit in the column, so it won't move on its own. Fits any column with 2-1/8" ID and 3/4" shaft diameter.
Retainer has an outer flange to positively position the retainer at the end of the column. Some installations require the bearing to be installed up inside the column. If yours is like that, you can easily file or grind off the outer flange, or at your request, I can press the bearing in the opposite end of the retainer.
Bearing has an outer flange to position it precisely in the bearing retainer, and is pressed in.
Includes a chrome plated shaft collar that clamps the shaft so it cannot slide in the bearing. Shaft collar can be mounted above the retainer to keep the shaft from sliding downward, or below the retainer to keep the shaft from moving upward. With a Borgeson conversion, the clamp will go above the bearing with the Borgeson rag joint flange below the bearing. With most rack & pinion conversions, a shaft with a c-clip at the top is utilized, then this bearing at the bottom with the clamp below the bearing will keep the shaft positively positioned so it cannot slide up and down if the steering wheel is removed. A 67 or later steering shaft has the c-clip groove at the top and will fit in a 64-1/2 to 66 Steering column.
All parts are MADE IN USA
