Pair of Antique Double Entry Doors
w/Windows
Rare
pair  of
antique  double  doors
salvaged from a large, old home in Eastern Missouri. The doors are made  of solid Douglas Fir or Cypress wood, and are stained on both sides.
Each door is built using "double laminate" construction which is  essentially 2 doors joined together to make one
.  This method not only makes the door stronger and heavier, but it also  makes it nearly impossible to warp. This is a very rare type of  construction that you don't see any more. To custom build a pair  of doors like this today, you'd spend least ,000.
Each door
has  3/4-length opening with 2 windows. If you would prefer to  convert the double window into a single window
--message  us for a quote.
None of the windows have glass, however, we could order and  install the glass of your choice
--message  us for a quote.
The window and panels are contoured with applied (raised) molding on both sides of the door.
Hardware
:
One door has 2 flushbolts. The bottom one works just fine, but  the top one is broken (see last photo). We might have one to  replace it, but if not, we could also remove it and plug it with  solid wood.
Otherwise, the
doors do not have any hardware. W
e  have a good selection of period hardware to outfit them (check  out our eBay store).
* If you would like any of the hardware holes   plugged with  solid wood, please email us for a quote.
Uneven Height
:
The  height of one the doors was unevenly cut by 3/8", most likely to  compensate for a warped floor or  sagging foundation. We could cut the door to an even  94  7/8", cut  it shorter/narrower, or even build it up to a larger size
--email us for a quote.
Condition
:
Considering that these doors are well over 100 years old, they  are in great shape. Aside from the thin broken piece of wood  next to the broken flushbolt and the small chip on the bottom of  one of the doors (see last 2 photos), the only real flaws the d
oors  have are in their windows. One of the doors is missing the 4  pieces of molding from the upper window and the other is missing  half of the mullion (the wood dividing the 2 windows) and the  molding that was on the top and bottom of it. These are not  major flaws and we could fix them. However, if you want us to  convert the double windows into a single window, then these are  not even an issue.
Otherwise,
they
have
the typical scrapes,  scratches, and small nail holes that you would expect to find on  an old, used doors.
However, there are no breaks, cracks, gouges, rot, or warp.
The  small blemishes they have will disappear or diminish drastically  after stripping and sanding.
Strip/Refinish
:
We could  strip/refinish, or partially or completely strip the doors to  prepare them for you to repaint or refinish.
We have  MANY photos of doors that we've restored that could give  you an  idea of how  this pair could clean up
.
Email us  with a small description of what you would like
done
,  and we'll give you a quote.
Modification
:
We  could also modify the doors to fit your opening or suite your  needs. We could make a frame, trim or add to the height or  width, replace glass with panels etc. Email us with a small description of what  you would like
done
, and we'll give  you a quote.
