What an extraordinary find! These one-of-a-kind doors were  salvaged from the former, "Manteno State Hospital," in Manteno, IL. There is so  much say about the building and even more to say about the town! Although we  didn't pull the doors from the building, we got to tour the town and collect  them from the basement of the hospital's former cafeteria. The town has an eerie  feel and these doors carry a bit of that essence especially considering that  they came from the psychiatric ward. Each door has a metal name  tag. We're not sure if that was the patient's name or the name of one of the  many patron's of the hospital?
All the doors are made of solid pine or Douglas Fir and are  painted brown.
When most people hear "pine" they think of a cheap, weak, soft wood. New pine hewn from 10 - 20 year old trees don't have the same   insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old have. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young pine.
They all have metal screens: Doors#1 & 2 have steel and Door#3  has steel and copper.
    Hardware
    :
We  got the doors "as is" and whatever hardware you see in the photos is included.  I'm assuming that most people will want to install these on a track and use them  as sliding doors, but for anyone who wants them to swing, we have hinges and  pulls for sale.
    * If you would like any of the hardware holes plugged with solid wood, email us for a quote.

    Uneven size
    :
The height  of Door#2 and width of Door#3, were unevenly cut by  1/4" most likely to accommodate a warped floor or sagging  foundation.  We could cut any to an even height/width, cut it narrower/shorter, or even  build it up to be wider/taller--
