    Description

Up for auction is this Uncirculated group of .00 Series 1976, Bicentennial Notes.
There are 5 notes in this group, and they all grade Uncirculated or better.
All notes in this group are Series 1976 Federal Reserve Notes, FR# 1935-B and 1935-C, three of the notes are from the New York District B-A Block and the other two are from the Philadelphia District, C-A Block.
These notes all have a 13 cent Stamp carefully attached to them.
What makes these notes unusual is that all five are Postmarked April 13, 1976 the Official First Day of Issue from a New Jersey Post Office!
    The third
note was postally cancelled at the Garwood, New Jersey Post Office on the reverse of the note instead of the obverse.
Please note that any Moire Pattern that occurs on two of the obverse scans, in the screened oval portrait area, is NOT actually in the notes themselves!
Please look the scans over carefully and judge the quality of the notes for yourself before bidding!
There was a big stir when these notes originally came out.!
The last .00 Bills produced in the United States were Series 1963-A Legal Tender / Unites States Notes with the Red Treasury Seal and Serial Numbers.
The BEP had not produced any .00 Bills since 1966, when they discontinued printing .00 Legals as a way of phasing out the use of Legal Tender / Unites States notes all together, by only producing the 0 denomination.
The United States Treasury had to satisfy the Act of May 3, 1878’s requirement that 6,681,016. be in circulation.
It had been 10 years since the public has the opportunity to own newly printed .00 Bills, and the very first time that the BEP produced that denomination as a Federal Reserve Note with a Green Seal!
This coupled with this Country’s Bicentennial Anniversary all added to the frenzy for people to get a souvenir!!
This small group of 5 - .00 Series 1976 Federal Reserve Notes are crisp & original.
Each note has a 13 cent stamp which has been cancelled.
