They have solid Douglas Fir cores covered by 1/8" thick oak veneers. These doors are heavy (60 - 70 lbs)! Both are stained and finished (not painted). No hardware included. Both doors are strong, sturdy, and in great condition. They only have nicks and scratches, but no breaks, cracks, gouges, rot, warp, or any other serious issues. The worst flaw to report is a small piece of veneer that chipped off of the bottom of Door#1 (see photo). Most of the blemishes that the doors have will disappear after sanding, prior to refinishing or repainting, and whatever remains will be subtle, "character marks." Antique Solid Oak Door
    w/2 Panels
    * Although there are 2 doors available, the list price is for 1 door only.
If you are planning buying only 1 door please email us  to let us know which door you'd like. The first 4 photos  show Door#1 and the next 3 show Door#2.
Beautiful, antique, wooden doors salvaged from an old home in  Northeastern PA.
They have solid  Douglas Fir cores covered by 1/8" thick oak  veneers. These doors are heavy (60 - 70 lbs)! Both are stained and finished (not  painted). Each door has two, raised panels.
Please don't think that "veneer" means inferior quality.  Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern doors and furniture, these veneers are 1/8" thick and provide strength and stability to the door. Oak is  a very dense wood and these doors would've warped long ago if it weren't for  their veneers.
    Hardware
    :
Neither door  is equipped with hardware
    . However, w
e have a good selection of period hardware in our eBay store, and tons more in our physical store.
    * If you would like any of the hardware holes plugged with  solid  wood, please email us for a quote.
    Uneven Height
    :
The heights  of both doors were
unevenly cut  by 1/4" at some point. The cuts were most likely made to compensate for a settling  foundation or an old warped floor. We could cut either door to an even  height, cut it shorter or narrower, and we could also build it to be taller  or wider  to fit your opening

    Condition
    :
Both doors are strong, sturdy, and in great condition. They only have nicks and  scratches, but no breaks, cracks, gouges, rot, warp, or any other serious  issues. The worst flaw to report is a small piece of veneer that chipped off of  the bottom of Door#1 (see photo). Most of the blemishes that the doors have
will disappear after sanding, prior to refinishing or repainting, and whatever remains will be subtle, "character marks."
    Swing
    :
    Door#1  is
set up to swing into a room towards the left or away towards the right; Door#2  is set up to swing in the opposite direction. We could change the swing of either door

    Refinish/Repaint
    :
We  could refinish, or partially or completely strip the door to prepare it for you  to repaint or refinish.
We have hundreds of photos of doors we've worked on over the years for reference
    .
Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and  we'll give you a quote.
    Modification
    :
Do you want to make a pair using  these 2 doors? Do you want to replace the panels with glass, screen/mesh, or something else? We could modify the doors to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could make a frame, trim or add to the height or width, reverse the swing, plug the hardware holes, etc. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote.
