Antique Solid Wood Interior Doors
w/2 Panels
* Although there are 2 doors available, the list price is for 1 door only.
If you are planning on buying only one door, please email us after the auction to let us know which door you'd like. The first 5 photos show Door#1, and the last 2 show Door#2.
Handsome, antique, closet doors salvaged from an old, home in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
The doors are made of solid Douglas Fir or pine and they have 2 flat panels on both sides. Door#1 is completely stained and finished, and Door#2 is stained on one side and painted on the other.
When most people hear "pine" they think of a cheap, weak, soft wood. New pine hewn from 10 - 20 year old trees don't have the same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old have. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young pine.
Hardware
:
Neither door is equipped with any hardware
. However, w
e have a good selection of period hardware in our eBay store, and tons more in our physical store.
* If you would like any of the hardware holes plugged with solid wood, email us for a quote.
Uneven Width
:
The width of Door#1 was unevenly cut by 3/8" at some point
most likely to accommodate a warped floor or sagging foundation. We could cut it to an even 23 5/8", cut it narrower/shorter, or even build it up to be wider/taller--

Condition
:
Both doors are strong, sturdy, and in good condition. Door#1 has a crack spanning across its middle rail. The crack is very tight and there is no need to repair it; it's more of a cosmetic blemish than a structural threat. Door#2 had a thin piece that broke off above it's upper panel, on the painted side, but it was glued back. Once sanded, both the crack of Door#1 and the scars from the repair of Door#2 will be removed or barely visible. Both doors have nicks and scratches, but no breaks, gouges, rot, warp, or any other serious issues. Most of the blemishes that they have
will disappear after sanding, prior to refinishing or repainting, and whatever remains will be subtle, "character marks."
Strip/Refinish
:
We could strip/refinish, or partially or completely strip the door(s) to prepare them for you to repaint or refinish.
We have MANY photos of doors that we've restored that could give you an idea of how these doors could clean up
.
Email us with a small description of what you would like
done
, and we'll give you a quote.
Swing
:
Door#1 is set up to swing into the room towards the left or away towards the right. Door#2 was installed using surface-mounted hinges so you could cut the mortises for your hinges anywhere on the hinge stile, and define the way the door swings.
Modification
:
Do you want to replace the panels with glass, screen/mesh, or something else? We could modify the doors to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could make a frame, trim or add to the height or width, reverse the swing, plug the hardware holes, etc. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote.
