1898 Union Traction Co. Phila. Rules & Reg. Guidance of Conductors & Motormen

This 1898 leather bound "Rules & Regulations for the Guidance of Conductors & Motormen" was issued by the Union Traction Co. for the employees of the Philadelphia trolley system.  It is in fair condition with six loose pages and light to moderate staining throughout.  It measures 6 inches by 3 1/2 inches and appears to be complete.  The most interesting part to me is the index at the back of the book that lists hotels, banks, hospitals, amusements, and places of interest along with the location address of each.  There is also an index of suburban points and how to reach them using the system.  It gives you an interesting picture of the City of Philadelphia as it was leaving the 19th Century behind and entering the 20th Century.
